KRYSTEN AT A GLANCE: I’m Krysten Peek here at United Center on the press line for the Midwest Regional Finals, where number one Kansas beat number 10 Miami 76-50 to earn a ticket to the Final Four. Kansas fans came out strong. And it was like a home game at Allen Fieldhouse.
It was a back and forth battle in the first half, with Miami leading by 6 at the half. Kansas put 3 separate players on Cameron McGusty to try and slow him down. He had 14 points in the first half and 18 points in the loss.
The momentum of the game changed for Kansas five minutes into the second half when Christian Brown kicked in a corner 3 to give the Jayhawks the first lead of the second half. After that point, KU went on a 14-2 run to extend the lead to 12. And Miami is going all out offensively.
Kansas limited Miami to just 15 points in the second half. Ochai Abaji led the Jayhawks with 18 and added 4 interceptions. And big man David McCormick finished with 15 points in the win. This is the Jayhawks’ 16th appearance in the Final Four and the fourth trip under head coach Bill Self. Kansas will face number two Villanova on Saturday.
